Botiwalla (Indian Street Food)
Address: Ponce City Market, 675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE n134 Atlanta GA 30308
Food: Botiwalla is located in the center of Ponce City Market amidst many great restaurants. However, Botiwalla stands out due to its quick serve Indian cuisine and its unique atmosphere. From the Indian flavored Lays chips, to the mint- rosemary mix, as a breath freshener, they really have considered the small details to enhance your experience. Named as an “Indian street grill” they have managed to keep a lean menu with 8 entrees and a few appetizers. The limited options makes it easier to choose.
I ordered the SPDP as an appetizer. I have been to many Indian restaurants and have never had anything like the SPDP. By description it is a savory puffed flour crisps stuffed with potatoes, onions, cilantro, and crunch chickpea noodles, piped with sweet yogurt, green and tamarind chutney. The taste is explosive! It’s only $5 and worth every penny. For the entrée I had the Lamb Boti Kabob Roll and the Chicken Tikka Roll, both were delicious. I preferred the chicken over the lamb because it was chargrilled and enjoyed the flavor from the grill. Each of the rolls are served on a buttered naan bread, so it’s a two for one special! My only desire would have been for more meat on the rolls, it was a bit light, but very tasty. For a drink I ordered the Mango Lassi which tasted like a mango milkshake. If you’re a milkshake fan try this out, but if not its best to pass on this drink. I enjoyed my food, they have a great patio, and the service is quick.
